A Ring Realms Novel: Savant's Blood Saga Book 3: Aesir's Blood

Score: 5.00 (votes: 5)

A young girl is stolen from her mother by agents of a jealous goddess, escapes and becomes a street waif known as 'Wren' who, decades later, is an elder member of the Brethren Guild, a thieves guild in the ancient city of Corwin.

A battle with a rival Brethren Guild forces Wren to seek refuge in a temple where she receives the first clues that will lead her toward the truth of who and what she is. From a dream, an amulet in the shape of a phoenix appears around her neck. Engraved on the back of the magic device is one simple word--Liandra.

Wren must not only learn her identity but how she fits into the universe she lives in. As she later discovers, a savant's sense of self is far more than a name or even a body but a spiritual destiny tied to the very origins of the Ring Realms themselves.

Wren Kergatha defeats Hecate and reclaims her family only to face new challenges. The Kriar have infiltrated Starholme. Then her mentor in G'yaki combat, Vera, suffers a breakdown. As if that's not enough, her grandmother Idun the pantheon lady wants to start a god war.

While Wren embraces her Aesir heritage, becoming a general like her mother and grandmother, she fights a ground war in the quest to locate Vera's G'yaki clan. Only then will decades-old wounds heal.

Alas, being far stronger and accompanied by an army of allies doesn't stop Wren's enemies from causing trouble. The only way to set matters right with Vera, herself and her family is to battle dragons, gods, and even a rogue member of the firsts.

Savant's Blood is a non stop action packed epic fantasy series. Greenway breaks the fantasy genre rules with abandon, with some amazing results. His world building is huge. Not one world, but nine. The Ring Realms is where I
go to get lost for a few hours. Just plain fun.

I have always loved epic fantasy, but am getting tired of the same formula rewritten countless times with a different setting. Aesir's Blood isn't
like any other fantasy book I have read, and I have read a lot. I can't compare it to any of them and tell you that if you like "x" you will like
this one. This is one part comic book heroes, one part action movie. and one part well written fantasy novel.

Wren, the main character, must become a general of an army in order to help her mentor Vera. From dragons who talk to horses who fly. What may sound like your standard fantasy fare isn't. Greenway puts his own special bend
on these wonderful characters making them uniquely his own.

I have loved all of The Ring Realms books so far, but the Savant's Blood with Wren as the main character is far and above my favorite.

    Highly recommended!

A whole lot of fun, crazy fast action, and a terrific follow up. If you like SF and Fantasy, you love the mix-up of these. Likeable heroes, dangerous villains and a step up even from the previous one.
The author loves Anime, and it shows in his writing, scenes are detailed and the action is invigorating like fighting scenes from Dragonball, without the slow, creeping buildup.

One of the BEST Sci-Fantasy Authors you will ever read!

I have had the pleasure of reading several novels in this series, and I promise anyone who does so will find they are the equivalent of, if not better than the books being published by some of the biggest names in the Sci-Fantasy genre. If anyone likes the Weber, Ringo, Bujold, Hearne, Butcher type of novels they will love all of the Ring Realm books.

Aesir's Blood is the latest installment of the author's world spanning multi-arc series. His books are some of my favorite. The latest installment is a leap forward in the author's writing in my opinion. There was a bit of a gap between this book and the rest and work that he put into evolving some of the plot lines and tidying up some loose ends is clear. The action was fast paced. The storyline interesting. I would highly recommend those that are interested start from the beginning of the series, but overall it was worth the wait. The author is definitely worth checking out if you are a new reader and love the mix of fantasy and sci fi.

    Glad it's back!

I am glad to see this series is back. I have enjoyed it since the beginning, and always look forward to the next book. This was no exception. This book feels longer than the others, and is rich in details and adventure!
