5 Angels and FAR Recommended Read! "ADVENTURES IN AMETHYST SERIES: A Rose for Romeo highlights what happens when a famous sex therapist and writer grows dissatisfied with her life. Melina chucks it all and returns to her hometown, where she feels desire for Scott, an old crush, rekindling. Revenge in Amethyst is a story of hidden lives and guarded secrets, and the lengths some will go to in order to protect their deepest thoughts from public scrutiny. Reckless Rose tells the tale of Lona, a former bad girl whose old habits threaten a budding relationship. Lona and Reece are finally finding the love the past denied them, but small-minded people with long-term memories threaten their happiness. Christmas in Amethyst is a suspense-filled thriller, an unlikely sort of Christmas story but one whose selfless love of mother for son is heartwarming. A single mother sacrifices her own desires to give her young son something he'll love, but her devotion may cost her more than she intended it to. Each of these stories is wonderful. I love anthologies, especially when there is a mix of genres in the volume. The two suspenseful stories are a good balance for the two romances. The unifying thread in these four stories is the setting, Amethyst. I have to say that the setting is so original that it's a character on its own. I would gladly love a first-hand look at Amethyst, especially the pristine lake. Another strength that flows through these four stories is the way this author writes her characters, so filled with human emotion in such a wide range. From the nervous assistant who wonders what she'll do now that her boss is letting her go, to the client who is so furious his anger oozes onto the page, to the sweet, animal-loving little boy who captured my heart, I felt a connection to the characters in this book. I wanted happy things for the good ones and waited for the creepy guys to get their due! This is a very entertaining volume, one I highly recommend reading." ~Fallen Angel Reviews
5 Stars! “These reprints of the awesome Adventures in Amethyst dramas contain diverse, fully developed females dealing with personal crises, but also supported in differing ways by their men. This is a splendid anthology with a new tale (see Til Summer Comes Around) just released separately.” ~Harriet Klausner
5 Stars! “I freely chose to review this series and fell in love with the town and the people. I liked that Dr. Melina Rose decided to give up her sex therapist practice in New York to return to the last place she expected return after she left seventeen years ago in “A Rose for Romeo”, Book 1. The series in “Revenge in Amethyst”, Book 2 continues when her older sister seeks revenge for stealing her one time boyfriend and Lona repents and finds her own hero in “Reckless Rose”, Book 3, and finally wraps up in “Christmas in Amethyst”, Book 3 when single mom, Sheila Mason returns home with her son after a dreadful marriage. Readers should love some of these novellas and eagerly await book five!” ~Linda’s Reviews
"Ms. Wiesner has created a wonderful town with colorful characters and continuous excitement. Amethyst is a small town riddled with jealousy, mystery and romance. Her vivid descriptions make the main characters come alive. The rivalry between the two sisters, Melina and Lona Rose, is totally believable. The men who live in Amethyst are sexy and powerful. The two antagonists are vile with issues bordering on the insane. Don't miss the wonderful town of Amethyst where anything is possible and the colorful townspeople that live there." ~Dawn Myers for Writers Unlimited
4 1/2 Books! "These contemporary stories all take place in the small town of Amethyst where the characters' lives intersect, drawing you into the drama of small town life. The first two stories, "A Rose for Romeo" and "Revenge in Amethyst", follow Dr. Melina Rose as she leaves behind her professional life and returns to her hometown. Fighting nightmares and gruesome fears, she returns looking for safety and simplicity. What she doesn't expect are the demons that follow her there. I enjoyed getting a behind-the-scenes look at the secret life of a psychologist. It revealed the struggles that can arise from being unable to separate your professional and personal life. The fear and depression that Melina suffers from, having taken on the problems of her clients, gave a refreshing look at this profession and the hurdles it can cause in one's life. The third story, "Reckless Rose", follows Lona, the wild sister who has built for herself a reputation she finds hard to shake. Constantly under the critical eye of the community, Lona finds it hard to listen to her heart instead of the gossips. This was one character I started out not liking at all, but by the end of the story I felt a strong compassion for her. I think everyone can identify with Lona. Each person has made mistakes in their life and had to face the consequences. This is a powerful story of learning to live despite them. The fourth story in this anthology, "Christmas in Amethyst", follows single mother Sheila and Police Officer Jeb. Sheila was deceived by the wrong guy and is now raising her son alone and trying to make the best of things while wishing she could change the past. She is a character easy to relate to. Each of us has things in our life we regret, second chances that we long for. This is a story of a hurting soul who doesn't believe she is worthy of another chance. There are some creepy elements in these stories that are, nevertheless, real and tragic. Karen Wiesner takes a bold step by wading into dark waters. The antagonists in these stories are not your average, selfish, greedy people. They are psychopaths, whose choices and decisions cannot be rationalized or explained. This made for a very unique and interesting story with unexpected twists. I read this one late at night and found myself peeking around dark corners long after the book was finished. I'm giving this a four-and-a-half book rating. Karen Wiesner uses finely tuned skills to draw the reader in and make you live the story. She tugs at your heartstrings, pumps your adrenaline and sends you falling into love. And all with a masterful attack of words." ~Long and Short Reviews
4 Stars! “With this series of short stories, I really didn’t know what to expect. What I got was a delightful stroll through a country town with characters loosely linked together through the different tales. Each story was delightful, romantic and complete even if they were short. I felt I knew the town and characters completely by the end of the first story and fell deeper into their lives as the thread continued through the others. By the last story, I meshed into the story and almost a citizen of Amethyst myself. Wiesner has a true gift and it shines through in these stories just as well as it does in her novels.” ~BTSemag
4 Hearts "Two traditional romances, two tales of suspense--the tiny town of Amethyst has enough tales to keep the reader engaged. The continuing threads and characters make for a most enjoyable read. The characters are engaging--especially Sheila's adorable child Devlin. Author Wiesner lets the reader know you can go home again." ~The Romance Studio
4.5 Stars! ""A Rose for Romeo": This is a fast read and really comes together well. Again, I can't wait for the next installment in the Adventures in Amethyst Series. (4.25 stars!) "Revenge in Amethyst": Scott and Melina are back in the newest installment of the Adventures in Amethyst series. This story picks up about sex weeks after the first story ends. I admit to some surprise at the tone of this story in the series. It was a darker, more serious tale than I was expecting. I think Ms. Wiesner did an excellent job of bringing the "thriller" portion of this romantic thriller to life. I have said before that Ms. Wiesner surprises me with the depth of her writing and this was no exception. I truly thought this would be more comedic than thriller---I was wrong, dead wrong. This story brings out even more personality and depth to Scott and Melina, as well as other characters. It also brings about a surprising look into the minds of psychotics-or at least one psychotic. The story builds layer after layer of suspense and concern. I stayed up extra late trying to finish the story before falling asleep. I was glad to get more of Scott and Melina's story this time. I felt like the first story ended before I was ready. This second story gave me that sense of completion. For those who haven't read the first story, you'll catch on and catch up without any trouble---but I think this series begs to be read in its entirety. look forward to more adventures from this quirky town. (4 stars!) "Reckless Rose": A poignant story where the bad girl became a decent girl, one who deserves to be loved by a great man. My only complaint was that this novella was so short. Karen did a great job of getting the story filled out so it doesn't lack anything, but I still wanted more. I wanted more time to see them fight each other and fight the township. I could have read about Lona and Reece all night long. I think you are in for a real treat with these newest stories in this anthology. (4 stars!) "Christmas in Amethyst": This story gives wonderful insight to the human mind and how we can so easily misinterpret what happens around us. Without giving away too much plot, a dangerous situation arises after Sheila gets off work. Can Jeb reach her in time? Will they ever get to share their true thoughts? You won't be able to put this one down. It picks up speed and you'll stay up all night to finish the story." ~Once Upon A Romance Review
"A Rose for Romeo, Book 1: I applaud Melina for the courage it took to walk away from her toxic work situation. Melina is definitely a planner and she has a very specific idea of what she wants to accomplish when she arrives in Amethyst. However, her reunion with Scott definitely puts a kink in her carefully laid plans. Melina is certainly not the awkward girl she used to be, and she and Scott have great chemistry. I really like the situation that brought them back together. I can’t give away too many details, but I will say that her use of a pair of sunglasses and a sledgehammer is a particularly memorable moment. Revenge in Amethyst, Book 2: After the brief glance of Scott and Melina as a couple in A Rose for Romeo, I was pleased to see that their relationship is progressing nicely in this installment of the series. They are very attentive to each other, and their chemistry continues to sizzle as they make plans for their future. I particularly like how good Scott and Melina are with Devlin, Scott’s young cousin. [In this story,] Melina and Scott’s lives hang in the balance, making the story very intense. I enjoyed the pacing and intensity of Revenge in Amethyst…[and] found the story and its conclusion very satisfying. Reckless Rose, Book 3: When I read the blurb for this story, I was very curious. Lona is definitely not portrayed in a positive light in the previous two novellas. However, once I finished reading Lona’s story, I found myself wanting to know more. Christmas in Amethyst, Book 4: This story is by far my favorite in this anthology. Jeb and Sheila have a rich history full of love and heartbreak that makes their connection very real and believable. Jeb is a very patient man. He is always there for Sheila. He is a very solid and strong man, but he’s also incredibly gentle and great with Sheila’s son, Devlin. Sheila’s incident with the creepy customer at the restaurant is definitely scary and had me on the edge of my seat. I flew through the pages, hoping that Sheila would make it through the ordeal safe and finally find the happiness that she deserves. Overall, I enjoyed reading [the first four stories in the] Adventures in Amethyst Series. I recommend it to anyone who loves heartwarming romance paired with a dash of suspense." ~Long and Short Reviews

    Four stories under one cover.

    A Rose for Romeo (Romance)

When it reached the point that she dreaded going to work each day, Dr. Melina Rose quits counseling and returns to her home town. She had left Amethyst, Wisconsin, seventeen years ago after her mother died and her father began an intimate relationship with someone almost immediately. Arriving in town, Melina goes to a realtor to purchase the McNulty house. It would take a lot to restore the place, but Melina would accept no other house. Problem is that the house sold only two days prior. So Melina goes to the place to speak with the new owner. That turns out to be Scott “Romeo” Romero. He will happily give the house to her, no money needed, but they would restore the place together first.

*** THREE STARS! Much of this story deals with setting up various characters with their past histories. A small section sets the ground work for a bad guy who will appear in the next tale. The romance between Melina and Scott is too fast (for me.) It will continue to grow in the next story.

    Revenge in Amethyst (Romantic Suspense)

Melina thinks that her suffocating counseling career is all in her past; however, that past is coming back to haunt her. Lawrence Caruso, her most disturbed patient, is searching for her. Melina is not too worried until the New York Times runs an article about her and tells the world where she is.

**** FOUR STARS! Melina and Scott’s romance continues, but there is a lot of suspense mixed in this time. Melina’s sister, Lona, gets more of her past told since she will be one of the main characters in the next episode. The author certainly knows how to build drama! I loved it! ****

    Reckless Rose (Romance)

(Our story begins a couple of years after the last ends.)
Lona Rose has been through two divorces. The mistakes of her reckless past would be whispered about in town until the day she dies. But now Lona is no longer restless and actually wants to put down some roots. She wants a good man and a family, just like Melina has. But there is no man in town that interests Lona, until Reece Childs comes back to Amethyst.

*** THREE STARS! This is a very short story. Lona is nothing like she was in the first two sections. Though Melina and Lona will never be close sisters, they at least seem to be getting along better. In my opinion, the author does not give enough information about Reece or about the attraction Reece and Lona shared long ago. This is a very whirlwind romance. ***

    Christmas in Amethyst (Romantic Suspense)

Sheila Mason once had a baby boy with Travis Dannon. Travis left and never wanted much (if anything) to do with his son. Sheila loves Devlin “Dev” more than anything though. She makes more money working at a truck stop than she ever could in town, so it is worth an almost hour drive to get to and fro the place. Today is Christmas Eve and Sheila needs the overtime and tips to earn the last one hundred dollars to buy Dev the Christmas present he has wanted for so long, a Golden Retriever puppy. But when a creepy customer begins following her after the shift, Sheila wants nothing more than to reach the safety of Officer Jeb Duncan.

***** FIVE STARS! Wow! This entire story covers a single day, beginning early in the morning of Christmas Eve. Dev is a darling boy and has had cameos throughout the other tales. It is wonderful to finally see his mother get her own story told. Jeb is just awesome and I personally felt that Sheila should have snatched him up much sooner. I, as the reader, got to meet Travis too. I am happy to say that I do not know any man as immature and irresponsible as him. Of all the stories in this volume, this one is the best! *****
