On the same day, six babies are born in the Kingdom of Fairy and six also in the Land of Mortals. When the fairy Tatiana is banished from The Castle of Feathers after trying to usurp her sister Queen Mab, she joins forces with the evil Drabon in the Kingdom of Gloomia. Together they come up with a plan to switch six fairy babies with six mortal babies...
Willow and her sprites retreat to the water world of Marissima after the evil Drabon poisons their home, the River of Forgetfulness, causing the Kingdom of Fairy to freeze over. The Fairy children working for good Queen Mab join forces in order to outwit their old enemy. However, to save the River of Forgetfulness, the one who poisoned it must forfeit his life! In an effort to save their friends, the children must battle against fiendish Silurian and his Lizardmen.
An eerie glow had settled over the forest of Gloomia. No birds sang in a place only inhabited by the lost souls who had wandered aimlessly among the mangroves for years. Most of them were goblins that had strayed too close to the banks of the River of Forgetfulness and had been plucked quickly to the watery depths by Willow and her helpers, the Whispers.
Two beings stood out in the forest. Two beings with filthy bodies and eyes full of madness. Two beings who formerly controlled the Kingdom of Gloomia which no longer existed since Queen Mab had united the kingdoms of goblins, gnomes and fairies.
In the early days, the larger of the two beings, Drabon, had often stretched out a claw towards any goblins passing, hoping to be rescued. Occasionally, he bumped into the other Being, Putrida; or rather her stench alerted him to her presence. Her vacant eyes stared back at him with no recognition. Now he just sat, staring into space.
After months of just sitting and staring, something was happening in a tiny corner of his brain. Drabon had no power whatsoever, as the Whispers had taken his soul--his very energy. But all the same, in some dark recess of his mind, a tiny flame had been lit. Over and over in his head, he told himself that he was the King of Gloomia--forgetting that the Kingdom of Gloomia had been destroyed.
Over and over he mulled until one day, something connected in his confused mind. Scowla! He needed to contact Scowla! As the days passed, it became an obsession. Mentally, he began calling Scowla.
The fairy Tatiana, formerly known as Scowla in the fortress of Gloomia was well aware that Drabon was trying to contact her. Many things had changed for her since those awful days when she had joined forces with Drabon and Ratbonia against her sister, Mab the queen of the Kingdom of Fairy. Since Mab had found forgiveness in her heart for Tatiana, she was now her most loyal ally.
Over and over Drabon called Scowla's name, until one night in desperation, she answered him. "What do you want?"
"I need you Scowla," he whispered pathetically. "It's time to take control again!"
"I am no longer Scowla--I am Tatiana. Be gone, you fool!" she told him angrily.
Eventually Drabon tired of calling to her as he suddenly remembered his Changelings. Of course! His Changelings would help him! He began calling them in turn. Not-Dominique, Not-Laura, Not-Zara, Not-Georgia, Not-Andrew and Not-Tristan. The activity took over his days and nights. He called them in his mind and now again called them out loud. Eventually, he forgot why he was calling them, but he continued to call them anyway.
