After completing a Bachelor of Arts, with majors in Professional Writing and Communications, she went on to complete an Honours thesis which focused on the symbiotic relationship between the literary magazine and electronic publishing. She then turned her hand to writing. "Mirror, Mirror" was her first book, co-authored with university friend Wendy Laing. She was a Lifetime Alumni Member of Victoria University. Dianne lived north of Sunbury in an idyllic country setting on her property at Macedon with her son Andrew, and a menagerie of cats, a dog, chooks, kangaroos, and her beloved horses. Sadly she died suddenly and unexpectedly on this property in April 2003, and did not see this book published.
